The CV UK team recently hosted a workshop which aimed to equip church leaders with knowledge on how to optimise the online space to reach their community.

The DigitalReach Workshop was led by experienced and enthusiastic speakers who delved into topics that contained practical and easy to understand steps for the attendees. 

These topics included: embracing online spaces, knowing the target audience, designing content, using AI (Chat GPT), and creating a digital evangelism strategy.

The workshop had a total of 20 attendees, with some church leaders flying all the way from Ireland to participate. 

CV received encouraging feedback from attendees who said they left with new tools that would enable them to revive their online ministry – many also requested another workshop be held soon. 

Overall, the workshop was a success and provided Christian leaders with ways to generate ideas, develop skills, and create opportunities for churches to reach more of their community.

Because the workshop was a huge success, the CV UK team is planning another workshop which is scheduled for January 2024.

CV has recently launched a self-paced data literacy learning opportunity for all global staff.

The program does not aim to turn everyone into data scientists, but to increase their understanding of data literacy.

CV Data Analytics Manager, Andrew Flynn, said this knowledge is an important skill for all CV staff to have.

“If everyone could grow, even just a little bit, in their ability to read, work with, analyse, and communicate with data, it would be a huge gain for the organisation,” he said. “Just think about what we will be able to achieve collectively.”

The self-paced learning sessions will be supported by live open sessions hosted by Andrew.

“This will give people the opportunity to have any questions answered,” he said, “and get those attending to start making data-informed decisions.”

Andrew said data-informed decision-making is not a substitute for our dependence on God.

“Neither is it a replacement for the application of our collective wisdom and experience,” he said.

“However, data literacy is an important skill for the work we do here at CV.”

CV Outreach has recently been launched in Croatia. Please continue to pray for our team in this country as we begin to impact families right where they are, at home!

Already we are making a difference.

A pastor from one of our CV Outreach church partners replied to a message he received from Peter*. 

“We began to correspond, and I saw that he really wanted to talk about God,” the pastor said. “He asked that we meet in person so that he could better describe the situation to me.”

The pastor went to the man’s house and found his family gathered around the dining table. The grandmother was sick in bed.

“The entire family looked reserved, and the man immediately told me that they were Catholics and that they strongly believed in God. I told them about how I was converted. The moment I shared with them the full gospel story – that Jesus died on the cross because of our sins – the atmosphere in the room changed, and their faces began to reflect trust.”

The pastor said that questions were pouring in from all sides like, “How can I be saved? How can I be forgiven?”

“I prayed with them a prayer of repentance and salvation.”

Following this, the son of the man admitted in front of everyone that at the age of nine, after watching a video about vampires, he made an alliance with Satan, wanting to become a vampire.

“The family all agreed that the next week he would come to our church for prayer. They have a lot of questions, and the boy wants us to pray again to make sure everything is resolved.”

Let’s pray for this family and our new Croatia team as they share the gospel of Jesus in this country.

When a digital encounter becomes an in-person connection, the work of God and the impact of CV Outreach is undeniable.

One of our church partners in France shared that she had been in contact (through CV Outreach email) with a man who is suffering from cancer.

After numerous email conversations, she started talking to the man and his wife on the phone, and has been able to pray for them and share the gospel.

Their connection grew and recently she was able to meet them in person and they attended a church near Paris together.

What a blessing it is that the work of CV Outreach helps churches around the world to connect with non-Christians. Beginning with one simple email conversation, we were able to introduce this man and his wife to Jesus.

CV Europe recently joined UK organisation Evangelical Alliance on a project called Remember When.

Created to help individuals find the confidence to share their stories of God’s faithfulness with anyone who does not yet know Jesus, Remember When is an effective tool for churches wanting to instil this confidence within their own congregations.

The concept is simple, and, with biblical discussions, captivating videos, and chats with people from the community, the impact can be profound.

CV Outreach (UK) relaunched recently with a new marketing campaign that has the UK team focused on building partnerships and connecting with church leaders, to promote the work CV Outreach does in this region.

CV Director, Oliver Raper, took up the invitation to join Elim Head of Evangelism, Mark Greenwood, on his podcast The Reach, to discuss digital evangelism and the resource that CV Outreach is for the local church.

The following stories have come from our community teams who have the daily privilege of communicating with the many people that respond to CV’s various digital-evangelism activities.

FRANCE

The lockdown situation in France has recently given us a myriad of opportunities to present the gospel to many different people.

George*, who reached out to us via a Fellow direct-media campaign on FaceBook, was seeking tips on dating a girl for a long term relationship. The conversation quickly turned profound, touching on the suffering behind the need to feel loved. 

I had the opportunity to lead George to Christ but the conversation will need nurturing if I am to help George truly understand how Jesus can change it all for him. Thank you God for the opportunity to shine your name in these complicated times.

UK

It only took a week after I started with CV before I was ready to take part in my first response. With support from my colleagues on what to do, I was able to lead a young mother who was anxious and afraid due to COVID-19, through a salvation prayer, as well as connect her with a church. Jenny* is now even joining the church’s Alpha course! 

Response sits right at the heart of much of what we do in the Community Team, and I can’t wait for the many more conversations about life’s highs and lows. This has really helped reignite my old fires for evangelism; fires buried deep in my heart. Now I’m excited for more! 

In the famous words of hero Private Desmond Doss – Lord, please help me get one more.

Drawing on the cumulative skills and experience of the team, these training videos explore how the briefest engagement with someone can be turned into a valuable and life-changing conversation.

Two of the CV Europe (the UK team) regional projects were recently honoured at the 2019 Premier Digital Awards in London.  The awards are intended to celebrate and encourage excellence in Christian online engagement and look at the broad spectrum of digital Christian projects in the UK to find people and projects that can serve as examples of best practice for the benefit of the Church.

In the category of ‘Best Use of Digital Media in Youth Work’, The Way took home the award.  Kaeli and Mark, who present the YouTube channel, were there to receive the honour, after sadly missing out last year in the People’s choice category.

The Christian Vision Europe site Chapel took home first place for ‘Multi-author Blog of the Year’.  This is the second win in a row for the project at the Premier Digital which was also honoured in the multi-author blog category last year. Corina, who heads up the project represented CV at the ceremony in October and it was wonderful to be a part of an event that recognises the work of Christians in the UK promoting Jesus and the work of the Church online.
